They have gone scoreless in several matches, while Germany has been a shooting powerhouse.

It was unlikely that Argentina could win today’s game going scoreless.

One or two goals would be needed for the big win.

And in the end, a scoreless Argentina was defeated.The entire game changed at the 113 minute mark.

An assist by A. Schürrle set up the game winning goal by Goetz.

And that was it. Germany progressed through this Copa Mundial with virtually all wins

with the exception of the Ghana 2-2 draw. Germany beat Brazil 1-7, defeated France

by one goal, USA by one goal, and Algeria by two goals. Today’s loss was Argentina’s only loss of the Copa.

 Horizonte mehr als eine Stunde, die Philipp Lahm und Co. wiederum im Bus verbrachten.

Die längste Anfahrt der WM 2014 führte das DFB-Team vorbei an stillgelegten Steinbrüchen,

vorbei an Industrieanlagen, vorbei an Weideland, vorbei an Vororten. 36 Kilometer mussten überbrückt werden,

der Flughafen in Belo Horizonte liegt in vergleichsweise großer Distanz zur Drei-Millionen-Stadt.

In den Vororten wurde der Mannschaft zugejubelt, mehr als sonst aber zelebrierten die Brasilianer auch die Selecao.

Um kurz nach 13 Uhr Ortszeit folgte dem Schild mit dem Hinweis: Centrum eine scharfe Rechtskurve, wenig später

war das Mercure-Hotel erreicht. Die Szenen dort ähnelten vielen dieser WM beim Empfang der deutschen Nationalmannschaft:

Die Spieler wurden gefeiert, sie schrieben Autogramme und ließen sich mit Fans fotografieren.
